1840's Plaza

Baltimore, Maryland

1840s Plaza, located in historic Jonestown, is available for parties, wedding receptions, meetings, and conferences. Visitors are welcomed to 1840s Plaza by landscaped courtyard gardens, ideal for cocktail receptions or outdoor wedding ceremonies.

The fourth floor, 1840s Ballroom, features incredible 8-foot tall windows that offer sweeping panoramic views of the Baltimore Inner Harbor and surrounding area, providing a stunning backdrop for any celebration or special event. With elegant chandeliers, full length mirrored panels, 25x25 dance floor, a mahogany and stained glass English Pub bar and hand-painted murals of historic Baltimore, the 1840s Ballroom is a registered authentic Baltimore venue.

The second floor of the Fava Building, 1840s City Lites, is an exciting venue for meetings and parties. City Lites boasts a fun lounge-like atmosphere complete with overstuffed couches, crystal chandelier, and whimsical sheer drapery. This unique setting is ideal for wedding receptions, cocktail parties, networking events, fundraisers, bar and bat mitzvahs, and other corporate and private events.

The first floor of the Fava Building, 1840s Cabaret, features fun and exciting Latin-inspired decor. The event space was originally designed for a tango club and restaurant and now offers a perfect reception venue for dining and dancing. With convenient entrance from the 1840s Plaza courtyard, outdoor facilities for seating and cocktails can be reserved as well.

The 1840s Plaza consists of several prominent historic structures in the heart of Baltimore's Museum Row. The complex, a designated Baltimore city landmark, provides an alternative tourist destination spot for visitors near and far to Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

The promenade from the Fava Building to the Carroll Mansion is lined with boxwood and flowers appropriate to the 1840s period. An herb garden sits next to the Carroll Mansion and signs tell the historic uses of the Plaza.

The door of the 3rd and 4th floors are beautiful. I had my ceremony on the 3rd floor and the reception in the 4th floor (ballroom). The third floor is very scenic with beautiful backgrounds for the photography and the chandeliers on the 4th floor are stunning. The event coordinator, Juan, is awesome (the staff, in general is great) but this guy goes above and beyond. He anticipated my needs on my wedding day, which I greatly appreciate and will never forget. I've attended other events at this venue and was impressed even then. I am so thankful that my wedding was here. We are a unique wedding couple, in that we won the "wedding in a week" contest ... so thank you 1840's Ballroom for making my wedding perfect.

I got married in the Courtyard at the Carrollton Inn and then our reception was in the City Lites ballroom. We also stayed our wedding night in the Carrollton Inn. It was BEAUTIFUL. All of it. We were able to watch people arriving at the wedding from the suite, and our ceremony was so gorgeous, the site was so pretty. And our reception was so much fun! AHH. I know it's probably not for everyone but it's so cute and Baltimore-esque. We had 110 guests and it was perfect for the space, I think too much more would have been cramped FYI! Juan worked with my wedding planner and made everything go so smooth (plus saved me with a secret trip to the powder room hahaha). Many thanks! n nn

We had our ceremony and reception in "City Lites" or floor 2 of the Fava building. Amazing. We went with a Baltimore theme to capture the beauty of the room and not only was it amazing to see, but our guests said it was the coolest room they had ever seen. Stasia and Dianna are amazing and the staff at the Inn are truly awesome as well. I loved our venue and hope to return one day to celebrate some other special event

Loved, loved, loved having our reception at the 1840s plaza! We had our cocktail hour in the 3rd floor Carroll Salon, and our dinner in the fun City Lites room. It was the perfect fun room to party in after having a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony! Dianna and Stasia were fantastic to work with, helpful from day one up until the night of the wedding. We had a slight parking crisis when the city parking authority failed to bag the meters on S. Front street in time (which we had already paid for months in advance to reserve parking for some guests/vendors), and the 1840s plaza took care of it, even sending someone out to tell non-wedding guests to move their cars. All around a terrific venue.n nn

Fantastic venue and location! I researched several areas in Baltimore City that were NOT hotels and could accommodate almost 150 people. I love the outdoor garden area that we used for cocktail hour. The space was kept nice and flowers full in bloom:) The City Lites floor was eclectic and unique. The price was very reasonable and rental came with chairs and tables. BONUS! The managers of 1840s were very helpful and responsive to emails and phone calls. I would definitely recommend having your wedding there!n Kirsten-Wedding:

Great experience with all of the staff, especially Stacia and Sharon! Everything was magical, professional, and they guided us through the process with ease. City Lites was a very fun, unique location and we couldn't have asked for a better wedding! Thanks 1840's!n Wedding: 09/18/2010n

We LOVED the staff at 1840s! We actually got married in the "City Lites" room instead of the ballroom. We loved the dramatic and fun feel of City Lites over the more formal feel of the ballroom (though it was GORGEOUS). We had our ceremony on the third floor.n Stasia and Juan, one of her assistants, were amazing. From the moment we went to view the venue until the wedding day, nothing was too much trouble for them. My e-mails were always responded to within a day or so, and they did everything in their power to make us happy. Our wedding was amazing because of the wonderful location and wonderful people at 1840s! Our guests RAVED!
